The SPIN Project seeks to empower nonprofit social justice organizations, small and large, to communicate effectively for themselves. It combines professional communications expertise with a commitment to social change, and provides accessible and affordable strategic communications consulting, training, coaching, and networking opportunities and concrete tools to domestic social justice organizations. Founded in 1997, the SPIN Project has trained over 1,000 organizations and 5,000 individuals.
The SPIN Project is currently conducting needs assessment outreach in order to map the communications capacity of the US human rights field, with particular attention to its infrastructure; framing and messaging. It is developing a qualitative data set concerning promising practices in the field in order to facilitate the creation of a network of communications-savvy advocates for human rights in the US.
